This is the general news section for all of Prescott Guitars.

Photoshoot…and Photoshop!

This is just a fun picture we put together with Dave and some of the basses he has been building.

Precision Bass – Super Custom

This bass is a beast! The body is made of heavy swamp ash and it has the tone to match. Even unplugged you can hear the unmistakable tone wood warmth. The bass is loaded with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound pickups. These pickups are recommended for blues, classic rock, garage, heavy rock, classic metal and nu-metal.

The bass has an incredible custom paint work done by Nicholas Del Drago of Vicious Cycles.  It’s rather difficult to tell from the photos but the paint has a gold sparkle undercoat that really comes alive when hit with lights. This would be a attention grabber on stage!! Nicholas did some wonderful paint work and striping.

The neck is finished with a vintage tint gloss that gives the bass a great vibe and feel. The body has been carefully shielded to keep the instrument incredibly quiet in even the most difficult situations. The pots are true CTS 250K and are wired with a .047MFD capacitor for more high end output.

Blue – Precision Bass

This bass is painted with a beautiful seafoam green finish and has a white pickguard. It is loaded with EMG P, active pickups wired at 18 volts for more headroom. It also has Hipshot A type bridge in chrome along with matching adjustable Hipshot tuners.

The cavities have all been highly shielded and the bass is incredibly quiet. It has the standard neck with a rosewood fretboard and satin finish. The EMG pickups give you plenty of low end while retaining midrange punch and clarity.

The bass has a great feel and the action is low and fast. The balance is very comfortable which adds to its overall playability. The bass comes with a case and is setup and ready to go when you get it.

We’ve taken our time when setting up our instruments and you can tell when you play it. Intonation is tight all the way up and down the neck. The tone is also consistent on all of the strings. When we add pickups and test out instruments, if there is any unevenness we go back and get it right.

Photography

We are just about ready to start taking some pictures. We really want to do it right, so you may have to bear with us while we put everything together. We really wanted to do something special. Every instrument we build is a work of art. We want to show them off in a way that will make you drool!  LOL

Fretless

Just finished my first fretless and it really came out nice. The bass has Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders in it and it sounds great. I’ll be posting pictures shorty.

Models and information about basses

We are getting close to completing our first round of developing our bass line. I have to say that this is about as much fun as you can have when building instruments. I went into this stage with coming up with a list of what my ideal axe would be for each situation. In the following descriptions I will outline the idea behind each model.

Jazz Bass – Standard and Jazz Bass – Standard Jazz Bass X Series

This is really where it all started. I started with a swamp ash body along with a maple neck with either a rosewood or maple fingerboard. As with all of the Prescott instruments, the bass is made in the U.S.  Next, I added the Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder pickups. The bridge is a Hipshot A series. The tuners are from Mighty Mite and the pots are all 250k CTS.

The Standard bass was developed to be a working bass. This is the bass that would be used ninety percent of the time. It’s super solid with great balance and all of the tone you would need for any situation. Ideal for rock, jazz, funk, metal, classic rock, country.

Jazz Bass – Standard X Series is virtually the same instrument with all black hardware.

Colors – 2 tone sunburst, 3 tone sunburst, seafoam green, antique white, translucent red, and black.

Jazz Bass – Deluxe

The jazz bass Deluxe model is truly a work of art. It features the same swamp ash body along with a deluxe neck with a beautiful binding and block inlays. The neck is available with either a maple or rosewood fingerboard. The neck is finished with a antique, clear gloss finish.

The Deluxe models come with a Hipshot A series bridge and Hipshot tuners.

The Deluxe bass is also a working bass, although it has a few more upgraded features. The main difference is really in the neck feel.

Colors – 2 tone sunburst, 3 tone sunburst, seafoam green, antique white, translucent red, and black.

Options

All of the basses are available with some very exciting options. This is where you can really personalize the bass to your style and sound.

Pickups

All of the Prescott basses come standard with Seymour Quarter Pounder pickups. Optional pickups are the Seymour Hot Jazz Pickups, and the Seymour Antiquity Pickups. Also available is the EMG J and JX series active pickups. The EMG’s add a considerable amount of possibilities to the tonal palette.

Tuners

Basses come standard with the HB2 tuners. There are options for the HB3 and HB7 tuners from Hipshot as well as bass extenders for drop tuning.

Welcome!

Welcome to the new Prescott Guitars website!

Hi everyone! I’m David Prescott and I want to tell you a little about what Prescott Guitars is all about.

First, let me tell you that I have been a musician for many years. (more than I’ll every admit!). I have also put my time into working at music stores, equipment manufacturers and distributors within the music industry.

I play both guitar and bass, and over the years I always had complaints about the way that most people would typically buy instruments. Every time I wanted to purchase a new axe, I always felt like I had to give up something that I really wanted. It all started with me wanting something that was American made, yet affordable, and optional upgrades that I would typically put into a guitar or bass.

This may sound relatively simple, but when you start to look, this isn’t something easily found. It seemed that whatever I wanted, I would have to do quite a bit, to get the axe I wanted, and the goodies would really drive up the price.

Prescott Guitars is different. We only build a couple of base models and then it all comes down to the options. Whether you want active or passive pickups, options with necks, electronics, bridges, tuners and more, we’ve got you covered.

What’s going on right now?

We are currently working on building instruments, this website, and ebay store, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Our goal is to do a special launch this spring where you will be able to purchase select modes and options. The full launch of Prescott Guitars is targeting for January 2013 and having a coming out party at the 2013 Winter NAMM Show.

New Website!!

We’re just getting going with this site so expect some big changes over the coming weeks.

As we move forward there will be two ways you will be able to purchase a Prescott Guitar…either through this website or through our ebay store.
